Ghetto Force

"A Force to be reckoned with"
"The only team that gets serious after the game"

About Us:

Ghetto Force, our Open Club Ultimate Team and our Women's Club Ultimate Team, are made up of University of Dayton students.  The teams practice and play in tournaments year round.  During the school year we travel to about 6 tournaments per semester.  The trips usually involve an entire weekend.  But the closer ones, like Columbus or Cincinnati, we come back for the Ghetto night life. We'll go anywhere, from Michigan to Alabama, and everywhere in between.

We welcome and encourage anyone who wants to come out and give it a try. Even if you have never played before, you are encouraged to come out to see what you think. We will teach you how to play the game and throw the disc.

If you consider yourself to be a good athlete, enjoy competition, and would enjoy learning a new sport, Ultimate is the sport  for you.  To join one of UD's elite club teams come out to a practice or contact us

About Ultimate:

Ultimate is a 7 on 7 sport that uses a 175 gram disc and frequently is (and mistakenly) referred to as "frisbee football". The sport is played around the globe and at over 200 colleges in the US and Canada. Over the last 10 years the sport has rapidly grown in popularity, especially on the college level.  College Ultimate is dominated by teams from the east and west coasts, but mid-west schools are beginning to raise their level of play.

Ultimate is a fast paced, non-contact team sport that involves elements of soccer, football, and basketball. Each team tries to advance the disc down the field and into the end zone. This is done by passing the disc from one teammate to another, but without handing the disc off or taking any steps with the disc once it is caught. If the disc is blocked, intercepted, dropped, or touches the ground, or goes out-of-bounds, play resumes immediately in the opposite direction with the defense now on the offensive. Games are usually played to 13 or 15 points. Since play is continuous until one team scores, everyone gets a chance to throw and catch the disc. The playing field dimensions are 70 X 40 yards with end zones 25 yards deep.

Ultimate is played without referees, the games are always self officiated, and sometimes observers are used. Ultimate relies on the ideals of "Spirit of the Game." These ideals encourage players to rely on their own ideas of fair play and sportsmanship. Competitive play is highly encouraged but a win-at-all-costs attitude is discouraged. If you are interested in the rules look at the 10 basic rules, or the full set of rules.

To learn more about the sport, visit the UPA (Ultimate Players Association), which is the governing body over ultimate in the US.

For those new to the team, welcome and we hope you stick with it because we could definitely use some help.  If any of you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to talk to any of the experienced players.  We would be more than happy to help you better your skills in any way.

Getting burned in practice???  Check out some tips and raise your level.
