$250 Scholarship

The 8th annual Annie T. Thornton Women’s Leadership Conference (ATWLC) will be held at the University of Dayton on Saturday, March 7, 2009. The ATWLC strives to promote dialogue about critical issues that impact women in their homes, communities, and in the workplace. This year’s theme is Strength, Courage, & Wisdom.

The Annie T. Thornton Women’s Leadership Conference Committee is offering an academic scholarship. The award is open to all female undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Dayton. The $250 scholarship award acknowledges the recipient’s dedication to developing her leadership skills and will be used to further the student’s education while at the University of Dayton.

Applicants should write a 2-3 page reflective essay on the following questions:

• What does it mean to be a woman of strength, courage, and wisdom?

• Tell us a story that illustrates how you are developing strength, courage, and wisdom in your own life.

• What are the major challenges facing student leaders today?

All essays should be typed and double spaced; they will be reviewed by a committee. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 11, 2009 and should be emailed to Christina Smith at smithchm@notes.udayton.edu. The top 5 finalists will receive a scholarship to attend the conference. The scholarship award will be presented to the recipient at the conference.
