Annie T. Thornton The organizers of the Annie T. Thornton
Women’s Leadership Conference (ATWLC) were honored to name the
conference after Mrs. Annie T. Thornton in recognition of her
exemplary leadership and dedication for 43 years to the University of
Dayton. Annie has been a member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church
for more than thirty years. She currently serves on the trustee board,
usher board, and the Pastor’s Aid Committee. Annie has received
numerous awards and recognitions, including the University of Dayton (UD)
Marianist Service Award and The Rwandan Community of Dayton Service
Award. She has received recognition from the Dayton Public School Work
Study and UD Disability Programs. She has also received commendations
from the United Way Campaigns, President Clinton for years of service
and dedication, and President Carter for her involvement with Habitat
for Humanity. Mrs. Thornton strongly supports the March of Dimes and
Special Olympics. She has mentored literally hundreds of students in
her various positions at UD in Dining Services, Housing, and Kennedy
Union. Among many of her contributions to UD’s community, she has
presented in the ATWLC and Leadership Dayton. Annie gives glory to God
for all that she is and all that He has allowed her to do. She firmly
believes that “All things yesterday, today, and tomorrow shapes,
forms, and molds us for the purposes for which we are called according
to the will of God.” |
