Annie T. Thornton

The organizers of the Annie T. Thornton Women’s Leadership Conference (ATWLC) were honored to name the conference after Mrs. Annie T. Thornton in recognition of her exemplary leadership and dedication for 43 years to the University of Dayton. Annie has been a member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church for more than thirty years. She currently serves on the trustee board, usher board, and the Pastor’s Aid Committee. Annie has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the University of Dayton (UD) Marianist Service Award and The Rwandan Community of Dayton Service Award. She has received recognition from the Dayton Public School Work Study and UD Disability Programs. She has also received commendations from the United Way Campaigns, President Clinton for years of service and dedication, and President Carter for her involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Mrs. Thornton strongly supports the March of Dimes and Special Olympics. She has mentored literally hundreds of students in her various positions at UD in Dining Services, Housing, and Kennedy Union. Among many of her contributions to UD’s community, she has presented in the ATWLC and Leadership Dayton. Annie gives glory to God for all that she is and all that He has allowed her to do. She firmly believes that “All things yesterday, today, and tomorrow shapes, forms, and molds us for the purposes for which we are called according to the will of God.”
