Parking

Parking is available to participants in the C lot, S2 Lot and the G Lot.  There is not parking in the RP8 lot because that is where the transition area is located.

 

C Lot

The C Lot is located just across the street from the UD Rec Plex just to the Northwest direction. The C Lot will be hard to leave quickly from after the race with the race course going right by its entrance. 

 

G and S2 Lot

These lots are located together on the east side of the UD Rec Plex.  These lots can be accessed by the Irving Road entrance.  You can get there by turning Eastbound of Irving Road (Springhouse Road) from Brown Street.  The entrance to these lots will be on your left side with another immediate left to enter the lots.  Drive to the bottom of the lots and you will be right in front of the Rec Plex.

 

NOTE: Parking is only permitted for this event in lots (A, B, C, D, G, P, S1, S2).

Triathlon

The triathlon will have a snake start with 5-10 seconds between each individual beginging at 8:00am in the RecPlex indoor pool.

Important Information

 

USAT RULES: This is a USAT sanctioned event and follows all USAT rules. 

 

WETSUITS: Are illegal for this event.  It is a pool swim with the water temperature at 83 degrees.

 

TIMING CHIP: This year's race is chip timed.  You must use the timing chip distributed to you upon entrance to transition on race morning.  The chip should be worn on your left ankle.  You may not use your own timing chip and any personal chips should be removed before the race.

 

Race Day Packet Pick-up and registration: 6:00am - 7:00am Sharp.  You will not be permitted to pick up your packet after 7:00am.

 

USAT Age Up Policy: Your age for this race and other USAT sanctioned events is your age of December 31, 2010 rather than your age on race day.

 

Transition Area: The transition area will be open from 6:00am to 7:40am (subject to change).  Remember that transition is for race participants only.  No spectators are allowed in transition.  Additionally, no glass containers are allowed in the transition area. 

 

Swim: Warm up swimming will be permitted in the aquatic center before the start of the race.  There are a limited number of lanes so share your lane if you are warming up.  Once the race starts participants not starting right away can warm up in the whirlpool area.  Swim caps are mandatory and will be provided with your race packet. 

 

Bike: Helmets are mandatory for the bike.  Absolutely no riding your bike in the transition area.  The majority of the bike course is open to traffic so please be alert at all times.  Bikers will be on both sides of some roadways so please ensure that you are staying on the right side of the road at all times for safety of all riders.  Please note that volunteers, marshals, and law enforcement will be along the bike path to control traffic and enforce safety.  This is not a closed course.  This means that you may be delayed by law enforcement.  Officers will not delay you unless it is absolutely necessary for your safety.  However, if they do, please extend them the courtesy they deserve.  They are out there for your safety. 

 

Run: Aid stations will be located throughout the run course.  Volunteers will be placed throughout the course for your direction and safety.  Miles will be marked along the course as well.

 

 


 

MECTC Division

The MECTC Division is set aside for the racers of the University of Dayton Triathlon Club and associated members of any club within the Mideast Collegiate Triathlon Conference. 

 

FEATURES:

  • All athletes will be the first ones to start the race

  • Men and Women participants will be scored separate from the age group athletes.

  • Reduced Entry Fee

Requirements:

  • Proof of enrollment in Fall 2010 Semester (Must provide proof of two of the following items)

  • Valid Student ID

  • Spring Course Schedule

  • Membership to a college or university triathlon club

  • An uncanny desire to prove how sweet your school is!

NOTE: MECTC Athletes will NOT be eligible for any Age Group awards.

 


 

RACER'S FAQs

 

Q: Can I register or pick up my packet on race day?

A. Yes, race day registration and packet pick up is from 6:00am to 7:00am at the race site.

 

Q: Can someone pick up my packet for me?

A. No. USAT rules state that you must pick up your own packet.

 

Q: What will be served on the course?

A. Currently there will just be water aid stations dispersed throughout the course.

 

Q: Will wetsuits be legal?

A. No, it is a pool swim and wet suits will be prohibited.

 

Q: What time does the race start?

A. The triathlon will start at 8:00am.

 

Q: What kind of a start is the race for the swim?

A. The triathlon will have a snake start with 5-10 seconds between each individual.

 

Q: Is there a pre-race meeting?

A. Yes, it will be at 7:45am at the Race Site.

 

Q: Where do I park?

A. On UD's Campus either in the C Lot, S2 Lot, or G Lot.

 

Q: Where does the run take place?

A. The run goes up and through the entirety of UD's campus.

 

Q: What color outfit should I wear?

A. Any color is fine, just wear what is comfortable for you.

 

Q: Do I bring my own swim cap?

A. No, swim caps will be provided to each swimmer.

 

Q: What happens if I lose my timing chip?

A. You will not get an official score and now be eligible for rankings.

 

Q: Can I wear headphones during the race?

A. No, you cannot wear headphones during the race.  USAT prohibits anyone from wearing headphones.

 

Q: I have additional questions that are not covered in this Q & A, what do I do?

A. You can ask any of the friendly individuals at Packet Pick-up on Saturday, September 18th inside the RecPlex.

 

Q: Do I have to wear a bike helmet?

A. Yes, bike helmets are required during the bike portion of the race.

 

Q: Will I have fun at this race?

A. As a USAT Sanctioned event put on by some pretty awesome individuals at UD, having fun is a certainty.  Hope to see you on the 19th!
