Philanthropy

Our philanthropy is Camp Friendship. This camp is in Mississippi where its campers are of less privileged backgrounds. Many of these children say they look forward to attending camp all year. We sponsor children to attend this camp as well as volunteer time during the summer to be counselors there. We hold a basketball tournament, Hoops-Fest, in the fall to raise money to send to help run the camp.

Besides our own philanthropy, the sisters of Theta Phi are very involved in other service projects. We participate in a jewelry sale where all the proceeds go to sponsoring children in Nairobi, Kenya. We also participate in UD service projects like Dance Marathon and Christmas on Campus. Many sisters feel that they want to spread their gifts to other places and participate in immersion trips in places such as Zambia, India, and New Orleans. Service to Theta Phi Alpha is not just an act of sending money, but a personal act that also includes hands-on activity.
