The University of Dayton aims to integrate the formal knowledge imparted in the classroom with other learning experiences in which students participate while at the university. While stressing academic excellence, the University of Dayton recognizes the importance of providing facilities, services, programs and staff which help integrate residential, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of college with classroom learning.
Through the formal recognition of student groups and organizations, the university encourages students to design and implement programs, events and activities which support, enrich, extend and amplify the goals and educational mission of the university and of a Catholic, Marianist institution of higher education. Co-curricular involvement encourages students to take responsibility for shaping the campus environment and ethos. It provides opportunities for broadening learning, obtaining leadership and interpersonal skills, and developing a commitment to service.
