PUBLIC SAFETY
The Department of Public Safety is staffed by 25 sworn full-time, 8 sworn part-time, and 16 support personnel, who provide 24 hour a day service 365 days per year. Sworn officers are certified as Police Officers by the State of Ohio and either meet or exceed the basic training requirements of the state. Their authority to act as law enforcement officers on University of Dayton property is the same as their municipal counterparts. There is a close working relationship between the University of Dayton Department of Public Safety and the City of Dayton Police Department as well as with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The department is committed to uniform enforcement, without regard to sex, race religion, age, nationality, and disability, of all civil or criminal laws and statutes, as well as university regulations. It is the department's mission to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors and guests on campus.
