Religious Studies Undergraduate Program

Ministry Track

The ministry track is for students preparing for ministry in a Christian church (e.g., pastoral associates, youth ministry, parish religious educators).  The focus of coursework is on a broad theological foundation with special emphasis on doctrinal topics such as sacraments or Christology. 

Students must take courses in Old Testament, New Testament, History, Ethics, Systematic/Doctrinal Theology, World Religions, Religion and Culture, and Lay Ministry. 

  1. Old Testament
    • Students must take one course:  either 310 Pentateuch, 311 Prophets, or 312 Psalms/Wisdom Literature
  2. New Testament
    • Students must take 315 Gospels. 
  3. History
    • Students must take 323 Christianity I (100-1100) or 324 Christianity II (1100-present)
  4. Ethics
    • Students must take 360 Christian Ethics
  5. Systematic/Doctrinal Theology
    • Students must take 437 Significance of Jesus, 440 Church, 443 Sacraments
  6. World Religions
  7. Religions and Culture
  8. Lay Ministry
    • Students must take 485 Lay Ministry
