For students preparing to teach religion in elementary or secondary schools
Students must take courses emphasizing history and doctrine in addition to
those courses which provide overviews of the other religious studies
disciplines.
Old Testament
Students must take one course: either 310 Pentateuch, 311 Prophets,
or 312 Psalms/Wisdom Literature
New Testament
Students must take one of the following: 315 Gospels, 316 NT
Theology, 318 Paul or 319 Revelation.
History
Students must take 323 Christianity I or 324 Christianity II as well
as 327 US Religious Experience, 328 US Catholic History, and 329
African-American Religious History
Ethics
Students must take 360 Christian Ethics
Systematic/Doctrinal Theology
Students must take two courses from among the following: 344
Christian Marriage, 356 Christian Prayer, 358 Liberation Theology,
437 Significance of Jesus, 440 Church, 441 Theology of Mary, 442 God
and Atheism, 443 Sacraments, 444 God in Christian Tradition, 446
Christian Liturgy or 447 Selected Catholic Doctrines
