This course will examine and explore various challenges to U.S. national security in the post-Cold War era. These security challenges include: environmental and economic threats, technological and information threats, weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, rising nationalism, and the difficulties of consolidating democracy and securing human rights. Attention will also be paid to reform of the intelligence community, NATO enlargement, and the role of the United Nations.
