COURSE OBJECTIVES: The intent of this class is to allow you to get the most out of your time at UD. At the end of the term you should:

TEXT:  There is no official text for the class but there are web documents to which we will refer during the semester.  The University has an interactive electronic portfolio at the site  http://portfolio.udayton.edu  .  This site contains links to information on Learning, Living, Community and Beyond.  Selected readings will be taken from this portfolio.

PreMed/Dent Programs web site:    The  PreMed/Dent Program web site is at http://www.udayton.edu/~premed .

GRADING/POLICY: This course is taken with an Satisfactory/No Credit option. An S grade is received upon satisfactory completion of all assignments, attendance and participation. A student absent from class is responsible for completing any assignments given in class.  Students are expected to hand in assignments on time. Registration with the PreMed/Dent Programs Office is absolutely required to receive an S and course credit.

Occasionally I may reach you by email.  I will communicate with you only through the  email address listed in the University Address Book.  You may change your email address by going to http://address.udayton.edu and  following the instructions.  I believe this ensures mail sent to your notes address will be forwarded to whatever address you introduce at this web site.    I should point out that your Lotus notes address in the form ***@notes.udayton.edu can be accessed from anywhere once you are on the web, but you will need to learn how to do that.  If you do not make this change at the above site and employ another email address you are still responsible for checking assignments or announcements which are mailed to you at the address listed in the University Address Book.

CLASS SCHEDULE: NOTE: special classes below marked by  Seminar  are on Friday. All assignments must be completed to receive credit for the class.  Attendance at the Friday Seminars is mandatory unless there is a class conflict.  Red folders should be brought to every Thursday class meeting.

Assign:Register electronically with PPO.   Print MED/DEN Curriculum, MED/DEN major - PSY  minor, Scholarships, Grants and the Wright State Early Assurance Program Brochures and the Personal Liability Insurance Policy from the Brochure Corner.  Place each in your Red Folder .

Print the Guide to General Education from the Learning Section of the Portfolio Website (This is a long document - PRINT ONLY THE GUIDE TO GENERAL EDUCATION SECTIONS FROM THE PORTFOLIO).  Also print the General Education flow chart   Place each in the Red Folder.

 8/27  Electronic submission of completed PPO Web Registration and Personal Information Sheet due at 12:00 noon.
9/02 General Info about the PPO

Assign:  Complete and and submit electronically "Your ApplicationProfile - A SelfAssessment" AND fill out and submit electronically a paper (maximum of one page) comparing your Strengths and Weaknesses with the charaacteristics in the self assessment form, BOTH DUE NO LATER THAN NOON, 9/17/04. 
Place a printed copy of each in Red Folder.

Assign: Complete and and submit electronically the Heart Transplant exercise, DUE NO LATER THAN NOON, 9/24/04. Indicate your considerations in making your ranking. Print a copy and place in Red Folder.

Due: Heart transplant in the Red Folder.  Be sure to include your considerations used to decide your rankings.

Dr. Myers is the Associate Dean for Admissions at the Medical College of Ohio.
7 10/07  The Allied Health Care Professions
Assign:  Complete and submit electronically the What If? exercise, DUE NO LATER THAN NOON, 11/05/04. Print a copy and place in Red Folder.
 For class #9 bring the "Guide to General Education", the  General Education flow chart and a Winter Undergraduate Class Schedule (lovingly known as the "Course Composite")
