Optics Workshop

 

The Optics Workshop is designed for high school physics and science teachers and is free on a first come, first served basis to 30 HS teacher applicants who register for the meeting and request to attend the workshop. It is presented in cooperation with the Southern Ohio Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers. The workshop will use the Optics Discovery Kit prepared by the Education Council of the Optical Society of America (OSA), which the participants may keep.

 

The meeting registration fee for high school teachers is $10. The registration form must be filled out and mailed, with the $10 payment, in time to arrive before the March 25, 2005 to avoid the late registration fee. The registration form must be checked "yes" to the question "ATTEND OPTICS WORKSHOP?" There is no charge for the workshop.  Printable electronic versions of the form can be downloaded below. Funding is provided by the American Association of Physics Teachers Bauder Fund, the Ohio Section of APS and the UD Physics Department.


Dr. Rex Berney, Associate Professor of Physics will lead the workshop in collaboration with by Dr. Bob Brecha, Associate Professor of Physics and Electro-Optics, both of UD. Dr. Berney is a well-known presenter over many years in the Chautauqua short course program sponsored by the National Science Foundation Division of Undergraduate Education. The workshop will be conducted in a Physics Department laboratory in the UD Science Center and will run from 1:30 to 3:30pm on Saturday, April 9, 2005. There is open parking on Saturdays in single-letter lots (e.g., B-Lot).
