Student Awards, Travel and Lodging

Awards

 

The Ohio Section offers full time undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to receive an award for their contributed oral or poster presentations.  The award will consist of a plaque and a monetary award from $25 to $100.  The amount will be decided by the Awards Committee. Awardees who are not currently members of the APS will also be given a one-year membership in the APS. There will be one award for undergraduate and one for graduate student papers. This award is available only to full time students who are first authors and who prepare and present their papers on research that they personally carried out.

 

To be eligible for these awards, the student must do the following on or before March 11, 2005:

  • Mail or fax the completed "Entry Form for OSAPS Student Award"

  • Email the complete presentation

  • Have your advisor and one other faculty member in your academic department send email nominations

  • Either the advisor or the student must be a member of the APS or an affiliated society

Winners of the awards will be notified either at the end of the meeting on Saturday or shortly thereafter by email.

 

Travel & Lodging

 

The Ohio Section offers limited funding for full time students to help pay for the cost of their travel and lodging. The student must present a contributed oral or poster paper as first author on research that they personal carried out to be eligible for this funding.

 

To be eligible for reimbursement of a portion or all of your travel and lodging expenses, the student must do the following on or before March 11, 2005:

  • Mail or fax the completed "OSAPS Student Reimbursement Request Form"

  • Have your advisor send an email recommendation

  • Either the advisor or the student must be a member of the APS or an affiliated society

OSAPS Student Reimbursement Request Form in PDF format

 

The student applicants will be notified shortly after March 11 as to the maximum amount available for reimbursement. Reimbursement will be mailed to the student upon receipt of original travel and lodging receipts.
