Service & Philanthropy

his is the motto on which Phi Psi was founded in 1852 at Jefferson College. In the midst of a terrible typhoid outbreak, our founders WIlliam Henry Letterman and Charles Paige Thomas Moore made it their duty to care for those around them. This act would set the tone which echoes in our Fraternity to this day.

The Phi Psi 500 service initiative is the goal set by Phi Psis across the country to complete 500 hours of service each year. From hundreds of hours of service at events such as Mini Heart Marathon, Christmas on Campus, and at the Boys & Girls Club, to tens of thousands of dollars raised for Relay for Life and Phi Psi 500. All of our brothers have some of their best memories and stories from our events helping of others.

Brotherhood

Social

As a Phi Psi we get together every day to hang out, play video games, eat dinner, study together, throw parties, go paint balling, high ropes courses, skydiving, or just chill. The house on 106 Lawview is always open for all brothers to come, pick up a game of Fifa, watch some movies, study, or stop by on a cold day when walking through the ghetto.

We also organize formal social events within the brotherhood, with sororities, and other fraternities.  Also, all Phi Psi’s also have the option to attend the American Leadership Academy in Cabo, San Lucas Mexico where they can attend workshops, network, and hit the beach.

Scholarship

In addition to being Phi Psis, our members are also college students, and as such are committed to excellence in academics. Our members receive numerous scholarships based on both scholastic and extracurricular achievements

We are also proud to have several members of the university Honors Student Program, as well as Berry Scholars, the highest scholastic award given by the university.

Because we are so committed to excelling at school, Phi Psi offers up to $2000 in scholarships to new students. The awards are given out based on a number of qualities, including grades, leadership experience, and extracurriculars. All new students are eligible for these awards, and there is no commitment to join. It is simply our way of trying to promote the academic values that we hold.

All Phi Psis are eligible for any number of local and nationally funded scholarships. The Phi Kappa Psi Endowment Fund is the national fund set up by Phi Psi alumni, which awards scholarships to undergraduate members. Currently, the Endowment Fund is the largest of its kind for any Greek organization, giving you great opportunities to help pay for your education.

Athletics

Phi Psi offers many athletic opportunities throughout the year. There are pick up games between fraternity and fraternity, such as football, softball, and dodgeball. We even form general intramural teams with brothers to participate with the rest of the UD campus. You can find a brother to bike with, head to the gym with, or just toss the ball in front of ArtStreet.

In addition, many brothers participate in the Mini-Heart Marathon where  they help service the event and then run the marathon to raise money for charity.
