As an organization dedicated to the support and advancement of the Latino community, Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity presents the Leadership Advantage Award in the name of our pillar, the great Latin Ameri
can hero, Don Simón Bolívar. The purpose of this award is to recognize those courageous individuals, who like Don Simón Bolívar have taken destiny into their own hands.
Leaders are those who arise to the task when will no other. Leaders are those who share and drive their vision into our hearts. Leaders are our friends, our guides, and our support. With the help of our friends and sponsors, we hope to empower young leaders in our community to reach higher.
Thanksgiving Day Dinner
The dinner is for those students that for one reason or another stay at UD during this week. The event is free of charge and is open to anyone that will be on campus that day.
Three Kings Day Dinner (Día de los Reyes or Epiphany)
The dinner is to celebrate Three Kings Day. It is often viewed as the last day of the Christmas season (the end of the 12 days of Christmas). Also known as, The Epiphany, Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child.
Traditionally in many Latino/Hispanic cultures, Three Kings Day is the gift-giving time, rather than Christmas day. Just as it is common for children to leave cookies for Santa in the U.S., in some cultures it is customary for children to leave shoes boxes out on the night of January 5, often filling them with hay for the camels, in hopes that the Three Kings would be generous.
