Expansion is the process by which the fraternity returns to a campus where they previously had a chapter and the way we start a chapter at a new campus. Our staff is involved in developing and training a Chapter Advisory Board, recruiting and educating new members, and helping the group achieve the goals of colonization and installation.
How do I start a ch
apter?
Starting a chapter of Phi Iota Alpha can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career. You are not just starting another student organization on campus; rather, you are about to embark on a legacy that will continue to foster the ideals of the Phiota man for years to come. And by this decision, every Phiota that comes after you will owe a debt of gratitude to your decision.
The process of starting a Chapter involves two distinct sections. You have already begun the first part, you have visited this website and are beginning to learn what separates Phi Iota Alpha from the other fraternities. To become a colony of Phi Iota Alpha in the Midwest, one must have a group of at least 2 men to begin the colony process. If you do not have a group of at least 2 men, contact us and we will help you develop your group. Send a list of the names and contact information of the interested parties to our Expansion Team. Be sure to include your University's name, and why you wish to start a Phi Iota Alpha chapter at your school.
From there, we will explain more in-depth our expansion policies and procedures. We will also send you the proper materials to becoming a colony and assist you with any questions you have along the way. Once the proper information has been sent and the Colony Petition has been sent in to the National Office, chartering can begin. Chartering does not occur until the College/University has been properly notified. From there, the colony process will begin.
