History of the Sorority:

Phi Sigma Rho was founded in 1984 at Purdue University by two young women who desired to be part of the social Greek system, but didn't have the time for formal rush due with their challenging class schedules. They questioned, "Why were there fraternities specifically for engineering majors, but no sororities for engineers?" The idea for creating a social sorority that could partner a rigorous engineering curriculum was born. A short time later, on September 24, 1984, the first chapter of Phi Sigma Rho was created with 10 charter members. Since our founding, Phi Sigma Rho has become an inspiration to many women every year. There are currently several chapters of Phi Sigma Rho and we have alumnae located throughout the nation and around the world.
