Page for a Day

What is "Page for a Day"?

"Page for a Day" is a program to get our youth involved at events. An adult that needs help during the day can be assigned a page for the day of the event. This page can help carry things, deliver messages, hand a fighter their sword as they armor up, handout flyers, tokens, etc. Royalty could have a page just to carry Their basket for a couple of hours or the whole day – have you ever talked to an child after they were approached by the Queen, Princess, or Baroness – their excitement is infectious.

Why are you doing this?

This program is meant to teach them responsibility in small doses; give them a feeling of accomplishment; help build confidence and self worth. Am I reaching for it? No, not really. Anyone that has a child that tries to help them around the house knows how proud your child feels when they help you with something and you thank them and tell them that they did a good job. A "Thank you", "Good job", etc. goes a long way with anyone… especially children.

Who can participate?

All ages can participate – I have learned that you cannot judge a child’s abilities or maturity based on their age alone so there are no age restrictions for participation. My three year old can easily sit by my side and pass out tokens and it makes her feel like a "big girl". If a child shows interest then they are usually ready to act as a page. Younger children would be given simple tasks and older youth would, of course, have the more involved tasks.

All adults that participate should have a general idea of what tasks they will need help with and how long they will need help. The children are not meant to be servants. They are to be treated with respect – please remember that you have an impressionable youth with you while you carry on conversation etc. The adult will need to encourage the youth and thank them when the youth completes a task. The point is to show the youth that working and helping other s is a good and worthwhile commitment.

All activities will take place in public and no child will leave the site without their parent or guardian’s permission.  Further questions, please contact Sabine at DuchesseSabine@paragonkeep.com
