Matthew DeVilbiss was elected president of the Ohio Zeta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon.

The 13th Annual Integration Bee will be held in conjunction with
the 27th Annual Bro. Joseph Stander Symposium
on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 1:00 PM
in Chudd Auditorium (SC 255).

Lunch will be served starting at noon in the Science Center Atrium.

The team of Matthew DeVilbiss, Tyler Masthay and Adam Volk took second place in the Leo Schneider Student Team Competition at the Spring Meeting of the Ohio Section of the MAA on Friday, March 27, 2015.
Adam Volk won first place in the student Sudoku competition.

Matthew DeVilbiss was elected president of the Ohio Zeta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon.

The team of Matthew DeVilbiss, Tyler Masthay and Adam Volk took second place in the Leo Schneider Student Team Competition at the Spring Meeting of the Ohio Section of the MAA on Friday, March 27, 2015. Adam Volk won first place in the student Sudoku competition.

The Department of Mathematics is saddened by the death of Stanley J. Back, Emeritus Professor, who died on November 22, 2014. He was 78 years old.
Stan graduated with a B.S. from the University of Dayton in 1957 and with an M.S. in Statistics from Purdue University in 1959. Stan taught at the University of Dayton for 4 decades.
Stan is survived by his children Laura Christiansen and Brian Back, and grandchildren Anja, Skylar and Elin Christiansen and Anabel Back.

Dr. Aparna Higgins ended her long service on the leadership team of Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) in August 2014.
Her association with this professional development program for new faculty in the mathematical sciences culminated in her serving as the Director of the program.
The MAA acknowledged her important contributions to the mathematical community by passing a resolution honoring her for her work.
In addition, Joe Gallian, a long-time member of the Project NExT leadership team himself, wrote a tribute to Aparna in the MAA Focus (Vol. 34, No. 5, October/November 2014).

The co-recipients of the 2014 Faculty Award for Excellence are seniors Daniel Esposito and Patrick Zabriskie.

The recipient of the 2014 Award of Excellence in Support of Mathematics is Carly Gross.

The co-recipients of the 2014 Pi Mu Epsilon Award for excellence among second year students in mathematics are Megan Brown, Matt DeVilbiss and Adam Volk.
