Department News

Dr. Art Busch has been granted tenure and promotion to Associate Professor, effective Fall 2012.

The following students have been inducted to the Dayton's Ohio Zeta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon: David Fan, Nick Fry, Carly Gross, Zi Ouyang, Alan Rozanski, Kathryn Schaber and Emily Stienecker.

Dr. Wiebke Diestelkamp is President of the Ohio Section of the MAA (April 2012 - April 2013).

Dr. Aparna Higgins gave an invited address at the 2012 Spring Meeting of the Ohio Section of the MAA. She also presented an invited workshop at the Ohio NExT Workshop immediately preceding the meeting.

Dr. Maher Qumsiyeh was elected to a one-year term as President of the Dayton Chapter of the American Statistical Association.
Dr. Pete Hovey was elected to a three-year term as Dayton Chapter Representative to the ASA.

On June 18, 2011, Chester Lian, a junior math major at UD, broke the official world record for solving multiple Rubik's Cubes blindfolded - 17 for 17 in 53 minutes 8.93 seconds!
