Resolution to Adopt "LP" - The Liberty Penguin

Whereas, Democrats claim the donkey, an animal synonymous with stubbornness, and;

Whereas, Republicans chose the elephant, a beast more inclined to trample our rights than protect them, and;

Whereas, the Libertarian Party adopted Lady Liberty, the symbol of freedom, and;

Whereas, Lady Liberty has become an immensely popular corporate spokesperson, and;

Whereas, the Libertarian Party needs a living mascot, a uniquely original symbol that will compliment Lady Liberty and carry the torch proudly for those who still year to breath free, and;

Whereas, Liberty is a cool idea, and; Whereas, penguins symbolize cool, and;

Whereas, penguins are personable, polite and principled, and;

Whereas, a penguin at play is a picture of freedom, and;

Whereas, politics is not particularly pretty, but penguins are, and;

Whereas, "LP" - The Liberty Penguin incorporates all of these ideals, and;

Whereas, "LP" - The Liberty Penguin is a copyrighted design that can only be used by Libertarians, and;

Whereas, "LP" - The Liberty Penguin as the power to attract attention and capture the hearts of America;

Therefore, let it be known that the Libertarian Party of the University of Dayton adopts the "LP" = The Liberty Penguin, as its official mascot.
