BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Environmental Sustainability Manager is responsible for the implementation, coordination and advancement of existing and emerging sustainability programs and initiatives. The principle function is to implement sustainable programs that continually decrease the impact that the University community has on the environment. This includes exploring and implementation of water and energy conservation programs to reduce the University’s natural resource consumption. Creating and implanting educational campaigns and activities that promote environmental stewardship among all members of the campus community. The continued development and introduction of programs to increase source reduction and the purchasing of recycled-content products. The manager will also contribute to broader campus environmental initiative by interfacing with academic committees and participating in campus Sustainability Club meetings. Responsibilities include expanding the current recycling program, developing new strategies, implementing new innovative plans and monitor a comprehensive and cost-effective solid waste program. The manager will also be required to maintain records of the program’s progress and overall cost savings as a result of the recycling efforts. In addition, the manager will organize and manage in cooperation with student groups programs and special events that promote recycling on campus.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field of communication, English, or marketing. Previous experience in the design, development, or implementation of a recycling of other environmental program and in a higher education environment.
