BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Director for the Center for International Programs, the Administrative Services Coordinator (ASC) plans, organizes, and coordinates the administrative functions of the Center for International Programs.  In addition, the ASC serves as a liaison and support staff for the Director.  The work of the Director is diverse, complex, sometimes confidential, and ever changing.  It also involves working with numerous constituents from campus and beyond, requiring tact and follow-through. This position requires considerable knowledge of UD’s international programs and initiatives, as well as experience dealing with individuals at all levels of the organizations.  The Director spends significant portions of the day in meetings and in strategy-setting and requires staff support to follow through with information and data gathering, and implementation, as well as, self direction and imagination.  The ASC will consult and work closely with all members of the Center for International Programs team, as well as academic units and relevant departments at the university to execute and promote the work of the Center.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Basic qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree or higher, or extensive administrative experience.  Must have strong listening, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consider multiple perspectives and compose accurate and grammatically correct memos, letters, documents and reports.  Excellent organizational skills and ability to initiate projects and follow through to completion, interest and effectiveness in working with people from a wide variety of cultures.  Excellent computer skills, particularly the use of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes; strong administrative skills and attention to detail and strong customer service orientation and ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse community of internal and external constituents; experience working with and maintaining a budget, and ability to understand and summarize financial information.  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to work collaboratively on a team.  Must be able to coordinate teams of people, including students, faculty and/or staff;  must be flexible, have sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; and familiar with UD, its Catholic and Marianist mission, and its international initiatives, have to work some nights and weekends and have a valid driver’s license with less than six points.

 

Preferred qualifications:  Experience in supervising and managing students, and developing their leadership skills.  A second language, and international living and/or travel experiences.
