GUP STUDY PACKETS
UD-ITC gup testing is done each semester and consists of a written
test and physical test. Typically
the written test is conducted a week before the physical test. The 9th gup
knowledge test is oral. Written
tests for gups 8 through 3 are given 15 minutes for a
2 page test over TKD history, tenets, student oath, form meaning, vocabulary,
and techniques. The test for red
belt and black tab is 20 and 30 minutes, respectively, over the same material
but more pages. The written test
must be passed before the physical test can be attempted. Physical tests demonstrate knowledge of
forms, kicks, sparring, self-defense, and specialized techniques through
breaking materials.
Written
test material consists of a General Information Packet and separate gup study guides.
The General Information Packet consists of information needed for every gup test such as the student oath, tenets, history, and
vocabulary. Each gup study guide contains additional information and
requirements for the specific test.
Each test is comprehensive so
it is recommended each student begin a notebook containing these materials as
used with notes.
Additionally, handouts are provided in class. Each packet is in Microsoft Word format
for download.
