Planning Process: June 2001
This is a guideline for your final report due in April 2002.
Step One: Envision A Future or Dream a Vision
- How do you (we) envision the New FIRE initative for your parish, school, diocese, or classroom?
- How do you envision students being engaged with the new media age for catechesis?
- How will this relate to how our students learn about their faith and the rich traditions of our Church?
- How does this relate to the way catechists may be teaching in the future?
How do we prepare our catechists to teach in new ways?
- How do you imagine catechesis going beyond the four classroom or study walls?
- How does your vision relate to the role of catechesis today?
- How do you conceive the parish, school or diocese being influenced by the new media culture --
or a new catechetical process?
Step Two: State the Team's Mission
Step Three: Set Goals:
State these in general terms or goals. For example: "To provide start-up in-service
sessions on the new media/information age for all our catechists." Or "To identify
alternative learning strategies for teaching and learning in religious education today."
Step Four: Design Action Steps:
Examples: "To provide on-site training and support of catechists to support their
utilizations of media/Internet for teaching and learning." "To review and select new
learning strategies to meet the needs of students today." "To begin to make accessible
media/communication technology to support catechists and catechetical leaders."
Step Five: Estimate Costs (if any):
Step Six: Set Time Frames and Determine Those Responsible:
Step Seven: Evaluate:
How will you determine if your New FIRE initiative is succesful? This should be spelled
out for each goal, for example:
- "Catechists and catechetical leaders are trained in implementing or using__
(Media/Internet/Film/Media Literacy)__and are successful using it."
- "Catechists have found new ways of teaching and learning based
on the new media resources."
- "New In-Service training sessions have been integrated for certification
of catechists based on the new media age."
