Free vs. Fair

Student-performer, Kelly Fine, helps the University of Dayton’s Human Rights Committee kickoff Human Rights Week on Saturday at Artstreet.

Kelly Fine

New to this year’s HRW, the kickoff event could not have been a success without the help of committee members: Joanna Dean, Ali Iovino, and Molly Seguin.  Located in the main studio at Artstreet, the kickoff event included everything from food, HRW t-shirts, student speakers, and of course the main event – Kelly Fine.  Ms. Fine volunteered to perform some of her original music during to help promote the event while displaying her lyrical talents. Between her two thirty minute sets, students spoke about their thoughts on Human Rights and quoted anything from a poem by Maya Angelou to a speech by Kofi Annan.

HRW T-shirts will be on sale throughout the week during the day at KU.  If you would like more information about HRW, browse through the website and look at the schedule of events.  If you would like to sample any of Kelly Fine’s music, please visit her myspace website.  The kickoff event was very successful and was a great way to get the week started on a good note.
