DEPARTMENT: Campus Recreation POSTING DATE: April 4, 2007 POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director for Aquatics (A) POSITION IS: Full time/12 months/35 hrs per week HIRING RANGE: Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience DATE AVAILABLE: May 2007
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director for Aquatics will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Center in the RecPlex. This includes hiring and training of the lifeguards, facility maintenance, operating a comprehensive swim lesson program, scheduling daily usage of the facility and overseeing all functions taking place in the facility. Responsibilities also include coordinating risk management policies and procedures in the RecPlex; training aquatic student staff in CPR/AED & First-Aid on an annual basis; and assisting in training other student staff. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in recreation/aquatics background or related field or equivalent work experience. Previous experience in Aquatics as a pool manager, supervision of lifeguards, and with running learn to swim programs. Must be a Certified Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/AED instructor, Certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and Certified Pool Operator. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
