NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING DEPARTMENT: Admission POSTING DATE: November 10, 2006 POSITION TITLE: Admission Counselor/Multicultural Recruiter (A) POSITION IS: Full time/35 hrs per week/12 months HIRING RANGE: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience DATE AVAILABLE: January 2007
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
In a highly visible role both on and off campus, this position will be responsible for assisting in the development of programs designed to increase the number of applicants from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Will work closely with admission staff, faculty and administrators to plan and oversee admission programs for minority students interested in the University of Dayton. Responsibilities include interviewing prospective students, reviewing college admission applications, maintaining continuous and timely communication such as email/letter/phone correspondence with prospective students, creating reports/generating data to track applicants, and performing other duties as assigned. This position will also be the liaison with the Dayton Early College Academy (DECA). Position includes travel approximately six to eight weeks during the year representing UD, as well as working frequent night and weekend hours during certain times of the year.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one to two years experience in college admission, financial aid or student services required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong presentation skills are essential. Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, proficient Internet search skills, and ability to easily learn and utilize new software programs a must. A valid driver’s license is required. Familiarity with the University of Dayton and the Society of Mary will be favorably considered.
