NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING
DEPARTMENT: Office of the Rector POSTING DATE: April 17, 2008 POSITION TITLE: Administrative Assistant (9) POSITION IS: Full time/35 hours per week/12 months HIRING RANGE: $13.15 per hour minimum DATE AVAILABLE: May 2008
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Administrative Assistant supports the work of the Office of the Rector and the core mission of the university. This position plays a key role in the timely and professional execution of Marianist events, and activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing appropriate support and communication for the Director of Marianist Strategies and Coordinator of Marianist Scholars and Activities. Coordinates and assists in the planning and execution of mission driven events. Events include Food for the Soul, Meet the Marianists, Marianist heritage celebration; Mission based staff retreat, Student formation program, Marianist Leadership Scholars, Marianist student communities, First year experience, Marianist Fellows, Student orientation, and New Employee dinners. Also tracks budget expenses as they relate to office events.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Basic qualifications: At least five years of experience in a professional office setting, working with minimal supervision. High proficiency of computer skills. Knowledge and commitment to the University as a Catholic and Marianist institution. Demonstrated history of working collaboratively as a team member and willingness to apply those skills in this mission driven team. The unique nature of this work requires creativity, flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to multi-task. This person should be confident in working independently while executing the ideas generated by the staff. Strong interpersonal skills with co-workers, office guests, and the telephone are required. Demonstrated competency in taking notes, writing public announcements and proof reading is necessary. The candidate should be skilled at detail work, a history of strong organizational skills with strong capability to work with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and FrontPage and Lotus Notes.
Preferred qualifications: Undergraduate degree.
