This study was prompted by feedback from employees and
management having concerns with fairness and equity of existing job classifications.
The feedback included the following:
The current classification techniques are
dated.
The current job classifications sometimes
focus too much on who the employee reports to versus the content of the job.
The current process is in need of a
"fresh look" -- i.e. it has been a long time since all jobs were reviewed in a
consistent manner.
The current job titles are misleading: same
titles applied to widely different jobs.
Job content changes have occured with
technology.
