Aspects of EDT Life
Professional
When EDT changed from a professional to a social organization,
we did not
change any of our original ideals. Today we still uphold the sense of
professionalism that is our original foundation. We also hold student/faculty socials, known as T.G.I.F.'s,
and we provide an excellent engineering environment through both active members and
the alumni association. Having a common field of study helps promote teamwork
and professionalism between the brothers. This aids in maintaining EDT's overall
grade point average upwards of 3.0.
Social
EDT's social side sponsors annual events not only for the brothers, but for
the university as well. EDT's spring and fall formals bring out the social side
of the brothers. We entertain UD with our well known theme parties and continue
with other activities during the remainder of the year. This includes the summer
picnic which enables active members and alumni to resume old ties and develop
new ones during canoeing and alumni vs. actives softball games.
We also continue to host fraternity dinners.
This past Thanksgiving we held a feast for brothers and friends of the
fraternity. Parents and our advisors were invited. We made two 20lb turkeys,
20lbs of mashed potatoes, 10lbs of sweet potatoes, and 5 pumpkin pies, along
with all the other goodies including homemade gravy, stuffing, and even an ice
cream cake! Truly a feast indeed. Dinners like these are hosted frequently
throughout the year.
Service
EDT's service does not end with just serving the brothers.
EDT continually participates in serving our
community. In the past we have held annual Ghettofest events, hosting live bands
and great food and drinks for everyone. In the spring we hold our
annual Car Smash. These events are both held to benefit the American Brain Tumor
Association in remembrance one of our deceased brothers, Mark Rice.
Each semester we also participate in off
campus service activities, often volunteering our time at the Learning Tree Farm.
We also participate in events such as Habitat for Humanity.
During the holiday season, EDT
holds a booth for Christmas on Campus. We usually run the hockey shoot out and
give away lots of candy to little kids.
