Franklin Roosevelt once said, "No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country."
These are words which are once again relevant in America, largely because the issue of minimum wage will (hopefully) be one which will take center stage in the 2006 election. In light of this, it is important that we pause and identify the facts surrounding the debate, for once the facts are brought clearly to light, the choice is clear: if given a choice this November, Ohioans should vote to raise the minimum wage, if for no other reason than many objections to raising minimum wage are, in reality, false.

In his State of the Union speech, President Bush stated, "...one question has surely been settled... to win the war on terror we must take the fight to the enemy." Clearly, the president has not been asking the same questions most Americans have been asking. Americans want to know how we are going to win in Iraq and how soon can our troops come home.

This letter is in response to Mr. Scarberry’s article on Rep. Rangle and his support for the draft. Although there is certainly debate about the solution to the war in Iraq, it is unfair and demeaning to accuse the Democrats of having "no political platform." Already, Democrats have come together to form a "100 Hour Plan" to push forward consensus, Democratic legislation in the first 100 hours of the next Congress. This will include the following:raising the minimum wage and increasing student aid, passing new rules to end the corruption in Congress, enacting all the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission to secure America, rolling back tax cuts for millionaires while preserving tax breaks for most Americans, and allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

Too often, college students are cast in an unfavorable light by the surrounding community.
I would like to give credit to a group of students who have represented UD and themselves very well.
I was just elected as a Dayton city commissioner, and a number of UD students were very active on my campaign.
