Why Should I Pledge?

So maybe you've seen the flyers around campus advertising some "Pledge" thing. Wondering what it is? It's the Graduation Pedge. The Pledge is signed by students graduating from The University of Dayton, and many other schools across the country, in an effort to raise social and environmental awareness.

What is the Graduation Pledge?
The Graduation Pledge is voluntarily signed by graduating students from University of Dayton. The pledge reads:

"In accordance with the University of Dayton's tradition to learn, lead, and serve I pledge to explore and take into account the social and enviromental consequences of any job I consider and will try to improve these aspects of any organization for which I work."

Several Colleges and Universities across the country have adopted the Graduation Pledge for graduating students to sign at graduation. The pledge is coming back to University of Dayton for 2008.

It is important to note that this pledge is completely voluntary, and is not required for any graduating student to sign. If you are uncomfortable in signing the Graduation Pledge, please do not feel pressured to do so.

For those who are interested and would like to sign the pledge, the opportunity to sign the pledge will start April 1st and online any time! Student who sign the pledge will receive a card with the pledge on it, and a green ribbon to wear during graduation.
