Founded by renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, Roots and Shoots is a global nonprofit that empowers people to make a difference for humanity and the environment. Our local chapter of Roots and Shoots is for such issues as restoring healthy ecosystems, promoting sustainable livelihoods and nurturing new generations of committed, active citizens through education and other community outreach. We are interested in a wide variety of issues that deal with critical global issues such as Sustainability, Biodiversity, Peace, AIDS, Poverty, Pollution, Fair Trade and Respect for ALL species including Humans and animals alike. Our primary goals are to increase the environmental awareness for members of our community, and for members to actively promote change and conservation to protect ALL resources for future generations. We care about what kind of home this planet will be for our children and grandchildren... We seek to promote such things as Peace, Sustainability and Reductions in Greenhouse Gases with action at the Grass-Roots Level. Protecting the health of the planet and it's critical resources are our ultimate mission. Our chapter of Roots and Shoots welcomes new members from the UD community or beyond that are interested in educational outreach, environmental awareness or a unique community service experience.
