Colloquium Series
Welcome to the webpage of the University of Dayton Computer Science Colloquium Series. Colloquia are scheduled approximately once per month and will be announced on this webpage, among various other sources. Our colloquium series involves a balanced mix of faculty and students (both graduate and undergraduate) primarily from, but not limited to, computer science and computer engineering. Below you will find the (tentative) 2009-10 schedule of colloquia and links to talk abstracts. Please contact, Saverio Perugini, the colloquium coordinator, at saverio no spam udayton edu or (937) 229-4079, if interested in presenting a talk or for more information.

Abstract
Dr. Robert Williams, the research director for the Tec^Edge Innovation and Collaboration Center, is looking for students interested in conducting research at Tec^Edge starting this fall. Tec^Edge is a partnership of the Wright Brothers Institute and Air Force Research Lab to create an environment `outside the fence' in which government, industry, and academia can physically work together in a common research environment to advance layered sensing research for defense and homeland security applications. He will describe the recent `Summer at the Edge' (SATE 2009) in which 70+ researcher came together for the summer with 50+ of them students (from high school to PhD). Each team worked one of 12 different project. Dr. Williams is looking for select undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in participating this fall as part of the research team at Tec^Edge.
About the speaker:
Dr. Robert Williams is with the Air Force Research Lab headquartered at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He is the research director for the Tec^Edge Innovation and Collaboration Center -- a collaboration of Wright Brothers Institute and Air Force Research Lab for accelerating research innovation through the intense collaboration of government, industry, and university partners co-located at Tec^Edge. As research director, he helps to forge, focus, and facilitate research collaborations for defense and non-defense applications to include homeland security, search and rescue, and emergency medical response as examples. His previous assignments include being the technical advisor in the Sensors Directorate of an advanced research branch, DARPA program manager for small UAVs, and an asst professor in electrical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
