Academic Coaching Guide

This program activity consists of matching a club member with an elementary student at Patterson Kennedy Elementary.  The school is located in the rear of the dark side (student neighborhood off of Stewart Street), so it is in short walking distance.  You meet with the elementary student for one hour a week for the entire school year and help them with subjects in which they are struggling (mostly reading and math).  This activity is flexible in that you get to pick the hour and day you meet (providing that it is within school hours).  The children really need our help and it is a good opportunity to become a role model and make a difference.  This activity is perfect for students who want to participate in the club and don't have a lot of free time.
