![]() "Pledges represent our hope for the future. Our principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. They provide a strong base on which to build a successful standard of conduct. It is our hope that you will embrace them, live by them, and share them with others. We wish you great success as you embark upon a lifetime of service in Alpha Phi Omega." |

How do I pledge? The process of joining our chapter of Alpha Phi Omega begins with the Rush program, which provides interested people with an opportunity to participate in fraternity events, both social and service, to see if they truly wish to join. These events allow you to meet and interact with our members, and to participate in the kinds of service events which are central to our fraternity. Joining our chapter involves going through an eight week process of Pledging. This process begins with a "pledging-in" ceremony, at which you make known your willingness to join our fraternity, and concludes with an "activation" ceremony, at which you reaffirm your commitment to our cardinal principles and are inducted into our fraternity. During these eight weeks, you will come to know our members, learn how we conduct our business, and participate in service projects. You must complete a set of requirements during this time, in order to qualify for activation, and must pay a small membership fee of $80. To assist you in your pledging process, you will be matched with a "big," who will be both a friend, and someone who can help you through his or her own experience in the fraternity. You will be matched with your big approximately halfway through the pledge process. The matching will be done by the Big-Little Chairs, based on how closely people's personalities seem to match, and how well they get along at Big-Little social events. Finally, after Activation, you will be a full member in Alpha Phi Omega, entitled to all the benefits and privileges of active membership. More information on the Pledging process from the National Alpha Phi Omega website.
