Samputu and Ingeli drum and dance workshop

Traditional Rwandan rhythms filled classrooms, recital halls and Boll Theatre from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 when Jean Paul Samputu was on campus as artist in residence. Samputu and two members of his band, Ingeli, capped off their weeklong visit to UD with a drum workshop at ArtStreet. Samputu, past Kora award winner and a survivor of Rwanda's 1994 genocide, was UD's first World Rhythms Fellow. His fellowship was sponsored by UD's ArtStreet, the Center for International Programs and the UD Arts Series, and Dayton's Cityfolk. (Requires Quicktime.)
