library As finals approached, students pulled late night study sessions across campus. Roesch Library was open 24 hours through the end of finals week. Two students, a writer and a photographer, spent some time at Roesch to see what kept students there at all hours of the night.

The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is staffed by volunteers — retired faculty and staff and members of the Golden Flyers, an organization of alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago.

Artist in residence Jean Paul Samputu brought amazing drumming and other traditional sounds of Rwanda to UD Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 as part of Human Rights Week. On his last day, he offered a drum and dance workshop at UD's ArtStreet.

Assistant sports editor Will Hanlon was talking about Flyer Madness, the annual kickoff to the men's and women's basketball seasons. The teams, band, cheerleaders and Rudy joined 2,700 students and fans, who "got more than their share of entertainment for the night," Hanlon wrote.
