Our Lady of the TaperThe statue of the seated Virgin was found according to legend beside the river Teifi bearing a lit taper. During the time of the reformation the image as well as the shrine enclosing it were destroyed. In 1970 a new pilgrim church was completed, and in 1986 a new image of Our Lady of the Taper was blessed and placed into the church which has since been designated the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady.
Our Lady of FatimaThe first church, converted from a ‘fish and chip shop,’ was the first one in the world named after that of Our Lady of Fatima. It hosts a copy of the statue of Our Lady in Cova da Iria.
