Our Lady of the Taper—The statue of the seated Virgin was found according to legend beside the river Teifi bearing a lit taper. During the time of the reformation the image as well as the shrine enclosing it were destroyed. In 1970 a new pilgrim church was completed, and in 1986 a new image of Our Lady of the Taper was blessed and placed into the church which has since been designated the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady. |
