PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY MOTHER (PIELGRZYMKA DO MATKI)
[Original written in Polish by O.Jan Pach, paulin, Translated by
Fr. Jan Pach, Pauline]

From the old Warsaw walls
We go to the Citadel of the Nation,
The everlastingly young Mountain

We go, impelled through streams fo rain,
Cracked by the scorching August heat,
In the cloud of dust, the praying on our lips;
We carry in our bags the weight of the litany
But in the heart-hope.

We exchange only glances,
immersing our hearts in the brightness of the "Dark Face,"
offering tears
and collecting smiles
for the new day of pilgrimage

.

Od murów Starej Warszawy
podążamy do Twierdzy Narodu
wiecznie młodej Góry

Idziemy napęczniali w strugach deszczu
spękani w żarze sierpniowej spiekoty
w obłokach pyłu modlącego się naszymi wargami
dźwigając w chlebaku ciężar litanii
a w wercu nadzieję

Wymieniamy tylko spojrzenia
zanurzając serca w blasku Ciemnolicej
ofiarujemy łzy
i zabieramy uśmiech
na nowy dzień pielgrzymowania
