The Marian Library is a center for research. What artistic depictions of Mary hold the most meaning for youth, and what role does Mary play in the lives of teen-agers? What place does Mary hold in film or in juvenile literature? These are among the questions that intrigue scholars at the Marian Library, the headquarters for numerous research and publication projects.

Projects are interdisciplinary and are undertaken in cooperation with the University of Dayton's departments of music, psychology, religious studies and School of Education.

Among the ongoing research projects of the Marian Library are:

Research is also encouraged through the presentation of the Marian Library Medal, awarded regularly to recognize outstanding achievement in Mariology, and through the presence of scholars-in-residence who contribute to Marian research.
