victory at the battle of Lepanto.
{Gregory XIII changed the name of the Feast of Our Lady of Victory
instituted by St Pius V on October 7 to the Feast of “Our Lady of
the Rosary” and transferred it to the first Sunday of October in 1573.}
“The Rosary has been instituted by St. Dominic to appease the anger of God and to implore
the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.” 1
