In the cold winter time,
the frost in the mountains paints with red
the cheeks of the Holy Mother.
Let the Holy Son's hand bless us;
even if he lifted only one finger to do so,
it would be enough.

The Madonna wears a huge cape, which she opens wide to protect her Son and the animals from the frosty winter conditions. The red-breasted birds migrate to Poland for the winter and find an abundance of berries on the forest trees. Mary smiles as she looks at Jesus, satisfied that all will survive the winter, thanks to her Son's blessing.
