Marian Library News

Father James H. Phalan, CSC, Vice-President of the Mariological Society of America sent the following information:

Dear Friends,

Just a short note to let you all know that our bike trek across Ireland on Friday and Saturday went great! Even with the rain on Friday most of the day, I thoroughly enjoyed every peddle-stroke! It became a pilgrimage for me: a close to the ground way to see the homeland of my ancestors, the place that gave birth to Father Peyton and this mission of his that we carry on.

My blog about it:

The last few hours across valleys in County Mayo to the Father Peyton Centre got better and better as we approached home with vistas across valleys to the Ox Mountains of Ireland's west.

I had plenty of time to pray and so I remembered all of you!

Thanks especially to those who has helped with your donations to the event.

I think weŽll be doing something like this next year too: think about cycling yourself!

Let Blessed John Paul II help you understand the Rosary with this fine video clip that our friends at Salt and Light, sponsors of FFM, created for the FIRM IN THE FAITH WITH MARY Campaign: ... and PRAY THE ROSARY TODAY AND EACH SATURDAY FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY until the event in August.

As we get closer to the time, let us be ever more united in prayer. Please pass the word and invite your friends to pray with us.

God bless you all.

Father Jim

Did veep's rosary turn into worry beads during bin Laden raid?
Source: Chicago Sun Times [referred to us by Jon Harvey] May 3, 2011

A bit of prayer ... or did Vice President Joe Biden's rosary become a set of worry beads during the dramatic White House countdown ending the hunt for Osama bin Laden?

To wit: Biden, a devout Catholic, spent time during the countdown--which took place in the White House Situation Room--fingering a 'ring' version of the traditional rosary necklace, which he "always carries with him and got at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York."
