Cardinal Bertone Promotes Rosary in Peru
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone told seminarians in Peru that their task is holiness, and that one of the ways to
achieve it is by praying the rosary.
The Secretary of State said this Wednesday when visiting an archdiocesan seminary in Peru.
He recommended the rosary saying that, "in praying it, we follow His Holiness Benedict XVI, who recites it
with frequency each morning and uses it to contemplate with Mary the face of Christ." The Salesian cardinal assured the seminarians that he would tell the Pope of their encounter.
The director and editors of The Mary Page under the auspices of the
International Marian Research Institute do not necessarily endorse or agree with
the events and ideas expressed in this feature. Our sole purpose is to report on
items about Mary gleaned from a myriad of papers representing the secular press.
Invitation to Worldwide Rosary
Day (October 7, 2007)
We invite you to organize a Rosary Prayer Session in your community, whether it may be a
massive event in a Church or a Stadium, or just your family and friends, joining
in with many more Rosaries organized around the world on the same day, October
7th, with the same intentions, thus forming the Worldwide Rosary Day 2007.
In October, 1996, a Worldwide Rosary was organized for the 50th anniversary of His Holiness
Pope John Paul II’s priestly ordination. The event was held in 20 countries
simultaneously. In Mexico, the Rosary was prayed in 2,600 different locations,
with more than three million people participating.
In 2007 we are already celebrating eleven years of organizing this event, in which, with the
blessing of Our Most Holy Mother Mary, every year more people and more countries
join in to pray the Rosary. The main event will be held in Basilica de Guadalupe
in Mexico City.
We wish to invite all religious and lay movements from the world to organize massive
Rosaries, joining in this Worldwide Rosary Day 2007, in as many locations and
countries as possible; to become part of this grand event during the month of
October, programming the Rosary to take place during the first weekend of this
month. We ask you to promote this event which surely pleases Jesus and Mary
enormously.
