HOLY MOTHER OF THE EAST
2001
oil on canvas

"One of my goals as an artist working with sacred imagery is to contribute visual images that people can find themselves in worldwide.  I hoped to create an image of Mary that a variety of Asian people would find loving and appropriate to them.  I feel the essence of God, which comes through Mary and Jesus, is what we all long for and hope to feel.  I continue to try to celebrate all of us with our differences.  The pink lilies are the Blessed Mother's symbol (among others) and she holds a white dove, the Holy Spirit."
