Artist's Statement

My artwork has been influenced by the Early Renaissance devotional art, as well as my life experience and cultural background. I began my life in a Catholic orphanage and subsequently, was adopted into a multi-generational, Italian Catholic household. Small shrines and icons were prominently displayed throughout our home and gardens. Over time, my religious upbringing entered my artwork. I have sought to understand the relationship between humans and the divine, especially between Mary and human women. I am interested in portraying how religion and role models have impacted our lives in Western Civilization.
