Artist's Statement Brother Pryor's scholarly activities include interdisciplinary work in art, music, and literature, as manifested in the film medium. In his classes, and in his writing, he has specialized in humanities appreciation and humanities survey courses using film to underline and dramatize cultural patterns. He has emphasized, in his writing, the Jungian interpretation of films and plays. A practicing artist, he has executed and exhibited paintings, stained glass, sculpture, and liturgical furnishings internationally, and has designed church interiors and shown murals in many public buildings both in the United States and abroad. A native of Detroit, he attended the University of Detroit and Wayne State University. His Doctoral dissertation was an interdisciplinary one, on the relationship between Brother Pozzo's ceiling painting in S. Ignazio in Rome and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. Brother Pryor's main focus in his art is the glorification of the world of the spirit and its inhabitants, the vast grandeur of its space, its wonderful light, and especially its mystery.
