Artist's Statement
Having given retreats for the past twelve years, I integrate art, media and expression in the retreats. I work in metals, colored pencil, and wood.
In the piece, "The Visitation," I wanted to express the rootedness and strength of these two women – Mary and Elizabeth. The Old Testament was rooted in Elizabeth and Mary of the New Testament. The union of these two women signifies the fullness of revelation of God to humanity.
"The Assumption" is a tender piece, expressing Christ's presence to Mary at the very moment of the Assumption, as her life in heaven begins.
